For 4 years I was co-Creative Lead on Audi of America, responsible for brand advertising, product launches, retail campaigns as well as the occasional global pitch. Not to mention three Super Bowl campaigns, which are always beasts of their own. There are a lot of clichés in automotive advertising, but we had the good fortune of having brilliant and brave clients who wanted no part of it. 

While PlayStation’s online store was gradually becoming more popular, it still faced tough competition from the brick-and-mortar store where gamers still enjoyed the face-to-face interaction. The solution: Emotionalize PlayStation Store as a place that was as mesmerizing as the games themselves, not just a cold transactional hub. We launched a new campaign featuring the Merchant, the master of a wonderous store, the expert in all things adventurous and magical. Partnering with properties like Star Wars, Spiderman, and God of War, the ongoing story of the Merchant helped lift digital sales for three straight years.

When Audi launched the A3, it was not just about celebrating their first entry-level luxury model, it was also their first time targeting a whole new audience – millennials. The “Stay Uncompromised” campaign brought together the uncompromising mindset of a generation and the engineering of the A3. To bring the campaign to life, we profiled celebrities and personalities who never compromise, people like Ricky Gervais, Kristen Schaal, and chef David Chang to name a few. The “Stay Uncompromised” campaign helped the A3 launch become Audi’s most successful ever.

As an independent Creative, I’ve had the good fortune to work with a number of incredible agencies and clients over the last couple of years. Better yet, I got to produce a lot of that work. Here are some recent projects.

This was a hard one. It's not often that your work can actually effect a major election.  When we presented "Captain Khan" to the Clinton team, they were so moved they immediately invited the Khans onto the stage at the DNC. You know the rest – their heartbreaking story took over the news cycle for weeks. We thought surely this was the death knell of the dragon. But the dragon kept going, so we did too, adding more work to the arsenal. In the end, it wasn't enough. But I will always be proud how this work inspired so many discussions about what it means to be an American.

The “Sponsors of Tomorrow” campaign portrayed the real-life geniuses behind the brilliant but dull semi-conductor. I can’t take credit for the birth of this campaign but I was fortunate enough to shepherd it for awhile and was Creative Director on “The Chase”, which was named one of TED’s “Ads Worth Sharing in 2010”. To celebrate California's annual Coastal Cleanup Day, we created this series of trash creatures – the Non-Native Species of the California Coast. The campaign was a hit throughout the state with the posters quickly becoming collectible. Most importantly, the campaign brought out huge crowds to participate in this important cause. The global +HP campaign celebrated HP's amazing partnerships, allowing the world to see the company behind the scenes of great companies. I wrote these two installments as well as spent an inordinate amount of time learning about enterprise hardware and software.

On one hand Comcast was the much maligned service provider. On the other it was the medium for all things entertainment. The strategy to position Comcast as an entertainment company was spot on and begat the very self-knowing “It’s Comcastic” campaign, one I was lucky to be a part of.

My partner and I ran the Video Content side of the account which had the output and size of many agencies. This is just a sampling of the work we did in two short years. When I was a kid and wanted to be in advertising, this was what I thought it’d be like. Fun, weird and non-stop. [Creative Director]

We launched PlayStation’s new streaming service nationwide, taking on the big cable companies head on. The ‘Game the System’ campaign was a direct broadside to Big Cable that used the language and mindset of gamers to incite a revolution against the evil empire, and drive sign-ups to Vue. We even created a villain, Coaxial Corp., that had its own website that of course, barely worked.

As Head of Creative at Lumberyard Productions, VPB’s production and content studio, I led a team of creators, editors and motion-graphic artists in creating every kind of content you can think of—production, post, digital, outdoor and social—we did it all. Along with overseeing all creative output, I managed to write and direct a few things as well. The reel is just a sampling of the hundreds of things we made in a year.
